One of the treasures of Family Camp vacations for me is the moments of Quiet. Though much of camp is filled with fun and laughter, games and activities, it is also set in over a thousand acres of Northern Minnesota lake country. August 26, 2008 …TB hasn’t written for six days and as much as this is a vacation he planned not to unless something important happened. Minnesota is beautiful this time of year…and as opposed to last year it is not hot as Hades. We are staying in a small cabin on Lake Marion about a mile from his daughters home…it has a dock and we have a ‘family’ boat. The sunsets are beautiful and there is always a gentle breeze. If only the peacefulness extended to the markets which can best be described a

They say Lake Itasca is the source of the Mississippi. This is why there is a big state park surrounding the lake, a park that preserves some beautiful old forest despite the best efforts of 19th century lumberjacks to cut it down. Updated August 27:This horrible case is back in the news again. Mr. Duncan has just been sentenced to death in his sentencing trial on ten federal charges for the homicides for four persons in Idaho in 2005. He has already pled guilty to the charges, but this hearing is the penalty part of the trial, and the government is seeking the death penalty. He has already plea-bargained for life without parole in state court, but has not yet been sentenced. I don’t know any of the principals in this case,
